TheEngineBuddy™ -
How does it work?
TheEngineBuddy is a unique engine pre-lube system.
On the mechanical side theEngineBuddy stores a pressurized charge of your vehicle's in-service motor oil in theEngineBuddy reservoir (accumulator). The reservoir capacity exceeds the volume of oil necessary to effectively lubricate all metal wear surfaces in your engine.
On the electrical side theEngineBuddy is wired to your vehicle's ignition. When you start your engine, a chirp sound is audible indicating a solenoid successfully discharged motor oil from the reservoir. Click below is hear the chirp sound.
Net Result: Pressurized motor oil from theEngineBuddy reservoir travels throughout the engine's oil channels/ports where it's distributed to all critical metal wear surfaces. Your engine now has sufficient volumes of motor oil in place to provide the hydrodynamic lubrication necessary to minimize engine wear when your engine turns over.

Installation of theEngineBuddy is like having an electro-mechanical insurance policy on your vehicles engine.
- Original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) of engines and & various studies* suggest that More Than 80% of engine wear occurs at startup, due to lack of motor oil protection.
- In fact, deciding what motor oil to use in your engine has less to do with wear control than managing dry/cold/hot engine starts.
- You can take action today to manage wear ‘beyond’

The EngineBuddy Eliminates Engine Wear When Starting Your Engine
When an engine is first started, it has zero (or close to zero) oil pressure.
- It relies on residual oil residing on bearings and moving surfaces (if any).
- Moisture can exist in void spaces and on unprotected metal surfaces.
- The engine has to turn over … the oil pump must build pressure to the point that it can circulate motor oil to the top of the engine where it gets distributed/splashed on moving metal/mechanical parts.

The EngineBuddy Pre-Lubricates Your Engine Before It Even Turns Over
When you shut-down the engine the motor oil is hot … facilitating motor oil “drain-off” of critical engine wear surfaces.
- By the time your engine sits overnight most parts are essentially dry.
- Oil check-valves in the engine … “IF” so equipped … do NOT retain oil on all critical engine parts.
- Oil filter check valves do not provide sufficient sealing to keep motor oil on the top-side of your vehicles engine where it’s needed to protect critical metal wear surfaces.

The EngineBuddy Eliminates Up To 1,000,000 Cold/Dry/Hot Engine Starts

Cold Engine Starts
Even after starting an engine’s cold … slowly warming up over time.
- Engine component clearances/tolerances are spec’d at normal engine operating temperatures (~200°F) … not at dry/cold start temperatures.
- When cold … motor oil is less effective and has a heavier/thicker oil viscosity.
- Pistons are grinding up and down in their bores.
- Everything is working sub-optimally with metal-to-metal engine wear occurring.
NET RESULT: Without oil to protect metal surfaces before starting … engine wear occurs. Period.

Dry Engine Starts
At engine start-up a hydrodynamic “motor oil wedge” is required to minimize wear. Without this “oil wedge” engine wear occurs. The EngineBuddy pre-lubricates all critical wear surfaces throughout your engine to minimize dry start engine wear.

Hot Engine Starts
Frequent hot engine start/stop cycles are just as damaging as cold and dry engine starts. This is a scenario of huge concern to stop-n-go delivery fleets. They pull up to a delivery site … stop the engine … make the delivery … go back to their vehicle … then restart the engine. And the repeat this all day long. In fact – a number of states have enacted no-idle regulations to minimize air pollution so fleet owners have no choice.
- After an engine is shut-down there is no circulation of engine coolant … in fact the engine is as hot as it should ever get.
- Maximum thermal expansion of all metal components/surfaces occurs.
- Tolerances between metal surfaces are their tightest.
- The motor oil is as hot as it will ever get … and is at its lowest/thinnest oil viscosity.
Upon re-starting the engine there is “no oil wedge” … so needless engine wear occurs. The EngineBuddy is your solution.
